1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using this website or participating in any teletherapy services, mental health counseling, or related services offered through Just A Mile Away MHS, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy, and any additional guidelines or agreements presented to you. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
2. Nature of Services
Just A Mile Away MHS provides professional mental health counseling and teletherapy services through licensed clinicians in the State of Illinois. Our services are delivered via secure video conferencing platforms in compliance with HIPAA and state telehealth regulations.
Our online content (articles, videos, or posts) is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute a therapeutic relationship unless a formal intake and informed consent have been completed.
3. Eligibility for Telehealth Services
You must be 18 years or older or have legal guardian consent to use teletherapy services. You must be physically located in Illinois at the time of your telehealth session unless otherwise permitted by your therapist’s licensure. You agree to provide accurate personal and medical information as requested during the intake process.
4. Confidentiality & Privacy
We follow HIPAA and the Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act to protect client privacy. All teletherapy sessions are conducted through secure, encrypted platforms. However, you acknowledge that no online system is 100% secure and agree to use reasonable precautions on your end (private location, secure device, etc.). 5. Client Responsibilities
As a client, you agree to: attend scheduled appointments on time or provide 24-hour notice for cancellations; use teletherapy only in a safe, private environment free from distractions; and avoid recording, copying, or distributing any session content or materials without prior written consent.
6. Payment and Fees
Fees for teletherapy sessions are disclosed prior to service. Payment may be made by credit/debit card or insurance when applicable. You agree to pay all fees incurred for services rendered and understand that nonpayment may result in suspension of services.
7. No Emergency Services
Just A Mile Away MHS does not provide crisis or emergency services. If you are in crisis or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact: Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 988, Chicago Crisis Line: (312) 744-1906.
8. Intellectual Property
All materials on this website — including text, graphics, logos, videos, and resources — are the property of Just A Mile Away MHS and are protected by copyright law. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials without prior written permission.
9. Limitation of Liability
You acknowledge that the use of telehealth services involves inherent risks. Just A Mile Away MHS, its affiliates, and clinicians shall not be liable for any damages, losses, or claims arising from the use or inability to use our website or teletherapy services, except as required by Illinois or federal law.
10. Termination of Access
We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to our services for any violation of these Terms or if clinically appropriate to refer you to alternative care.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted on our website with a new effective date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with Illinois law and venue in the appropriate Cook County or Winnebago County courts.
